UNAGII est un prototype d'installation audio-visuelle de Simon Lazarus développée en collaboration avec les Usines (Ligugé) dans le cadre des résidences d’artistes accompagnées par la DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, l’Institut Français de Budapest et Iilim (Paris).

Le mythe d’Orphée nous raconte comment, pour ramener son épouse Eurydice du royaume des morts, il passe un pacte avec Hadès, roi des enfers. Il devra ouvrir la marche jusqu’au monde des vivants, mais sans jamais se retourner au risque de la perdre à jamais. Mais voyant poindre la lumière du jour, Orphée succombe à la tentation et se retourne vers Eurydice, la précipitant à tout jamais dans l’oubli.
Dans Roma de Federico Fellini, un chantier de construction du métro romain met accidentellement à jour des fresques murales antiques. Ce vernissage surprise provoquera une réaction chimique entre les pigments ancestraux et l’air contemporain, ayant pour conséquence la disparition des peintures devant les yeux ébahis des ouvriers.
Cette dialectique [désir de connaissance > mise à jour > altération de l’objet du désir], qui infuse nos histoires s’illustre également dans le monde socio-culturel - médiatiser un lieu ou une pratique undergound reste le meilleur moyen de les vampiriser - ou dans la mécanique quantique : le principe appelé «dualité ondecorpuscule » constate l’évolution du comportement de certaines particules quand elles se savent observées.

UNAGII, c’est l’histoire d’un mirage timide.
Nul si découvert, comme une ombre éclairée au flash.
Le point de départ de UNAGI, c’est cette sensation qu’on a tous
lorsqu’au petit matin on essaye de se rappeler d’un rêve et que plus l’on s’en approche plus il nous file entre les doigts.
Comme quand un goût ou une odeur nous rappelle un moment, un lieu ; Et que plus on y goûte, plus on s’éloigne du souvenir.
Le dessein de UNAGII est d’incarner ce sentiment d’équinoxe, ce basculement crépusculaire pour parler de notre distance aux choses et de notre avidité d’information.

The purpose of UNAGI is to embody this feeling of equinox, this twilight shift to speak about our distance to things and our greed for information.
