Performance audio-visuelle en duo avec S8jfou, 50 minutes 

“La musique de S8jfou infuse le travail de peinture animée de Simon Lazarus depuis plusieurs années maintenant. Les deux artistes partagent une vision du monde, un attrait pour le « hors-champ », un goût pour l’ombre et la beauté de ce qui s’y construit.
C’est en façonnant chaque détail mais aussi en laissant une place et un rôle aux ordinateurs que les deux artistes créent une performance immersive axée sur la contemplation, l’hallucination, le ralentissement et l’accélération du temps.
L’interaction et l’aléatoire influencent subtilement la création : la musique jouée par S8jfou impacte les vidéos créées par Simon Lazarus et inversement. Les pièces se rapprochent de la peinture abstraite, à laquelle se conjugue un travail sur le rythme et le mouvement chorégraphique jusqu’à obtenir un ballet de textures hypnotiques. Les formes composées sont à mi-chemin entre le geste vif et la géométrie lisse, évoquant le rapport main/écran et la pratique du graffiti jusqu’à atteindre l’équilibre entre impact et contemplation.
Aventureuse, tonique, dansante et ludique, cette performance est une réelle expérience à vivre. Les compositions de S8jfou – extraites de son album « Op·Echo » – sont taillées dans la chaleur et les variations, guidées par des rythmes effrénés ou lovées dans la douceur des nappes. Le jeune producteur se nourrit d’influences électroniques anglaises pour composer des rythmes breakés, répétitifs mais sans redondance. Une base savante sur laquelle il ajoute ensuite plusieurs couches harmoniques, dissonantes, distordues, comme un soliste qui s’exprimerait sur des fondations mouvantes. S8jfou et Simon Lazarus explorent et transportent le spectateur dans un monde sonore et visuel unique. Une performance radicale, débordante de sensations et d’idées folles.”

"S8jfou's music has been infusing Simon Lazarus' animated painting work for several years now. Both artists share a vision of the world, an attraction for the "off-field", a taste for the shadows and the beauty of what is built there.
By shaping each detail but also by leaving a place and a role for computers, the two artists create an immersive performance based on contemplation, hallucination, slowing down and accelerating time.
Interaction and randomness subtly influence the creation: the music played by S8jfou impacts the videos created by Simon Lazarus and vice versa. The pieces are close to abstract painting, to which is combined a work on rhythm and choreographic movement until obtaining a ballet of hypnotic textures. The forms composed are halfway between the lively gesture and the smooth geometry, evoking the hand/screen relationship and the practice of graffiti until reaching the balance between impact and contemplation.
Adventurous, tonic, dancing and playful, this performance is a real experience to live. S8jfou's compositions - taken from his album "Op-Echo" - are carved out of warmth and variation, guided by frantic rhythms or coiled in the softness of layers. The young producer feeds on English electronic influences to compose broken, repetitive but not redundant rhythms. A learned base on which he then adds several harmonic layers, dissonant, distorted, like a soloist who would express himself on moving foundations. S8jfou and Simon Lazarus explore and transport the spectator into a unique sound and visual world. A radical performance, overflowing with sensations and crazy ideas."
